Exhibition of watercolor and oil paintings at the Jaffrey Civic Center ’07

by Phil Bean on December 17, 2006

The Jaffrey Civic Center is proud to announce that Phil Bean will be exhibiting his watercolor and oil paintings in the first floor Display Cases from January 3, 2007 until February 15, 2007.

Phil has exhibited in juried shows throughout New England and Alaska as well as nationally. He is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society & the Alaska Watercolor Society and a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association & the Sharon Arts Center.

Although landscapes and classic architecture are his main subjects, he considers mood, atmosphere and light the important aspects that he seeks to capture in his works. For watercolor he employs various techniques, including wet-in-wet, color mixing on the painting surface and drybrush. Working with oils, both brush and painting knife techniques are used. Primarily self-taught he has also studies in workshops with Nita Engle, Judi Betts, Carlton Plummer (watercolors) and Scott Christensen (oil painting.) With a deep-rooted interest, he looks forward to the ever-changing challenges of painting.

The Jaffrey Civic Center is located at 40 Main Street, Jaffrey. For more information, call 532-6527. Admission is free.
